PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) has begun installing a real-time noise monitoring system across its industrial area in Central Halmahera, North Maluku, as part of efforts to improve environmental management and worker safety.
The system is designed to continuously measure noise levels generated by industrial activities and transmit the data directly to a centralized monitoring platform. By using this technology, the company aims to ensure that sound levels remain within acceptable limits and comply with environmental standards.
According to IWIP, the monitoring devices are placed at several strategic points within the industrial zone, allowing for more accurate and comprehensive data collection. The real-time feature enables faster response if noise levels exceed the permitted threshold.
The initiative is also intended to address concerns related to occupational health, as prolonged exposure to excessive noise can negatively affect workers’ hearing and overall well-being. Noise pollution has long been recognized as a potential risk in heavy industrial operations, especially in large-scale processing areas.
Through this system, IWIP expects to strengthen its environmental oversight and demonstrate its commitment to sustainable industrial practices. The company stated that the collected data will also support evaluation and improvement of operational processes in the future.
